ART IN THE CITY

«

MAIF has been involved in contemporary creation for 10 years through its cultural patronage policy. The MAIF Prize for Sculpture appeals in particular to young artists: the aim is to produce a first work in bronze, created in collaboration with a foundry.

This year again, five finalists have been selected and are therefore competing for the 2018 prize:

- Michaël Sellam with his work Copier-Coller which questions the uses by our society of so-called "intelligent" computer objects, by pasting various fragments of historical works with computers.

 - A second one with Flaming Falcon, which takes up a detail of the famous Art Deco Chrysler building in New York, reinterpreted by the duo of artists, in order to place the sculpture at the centre of attention.

The five projects will be exhibited from 11 to 22 September 2018 at the MAIF Social Club, before the name of the winner is revealed. The winning work will then join the sculpture collection of this cultural venue that encourages emerging contemporary artists.

The 11th MAIF Prize for Sculpture has finally been awarded to Arnaud Grapain for its Data Center project during the awards evening organised at the MAIF Social Club.

This young artist's project will be carried out in bronze in two copies during the year 2019, a challenge for this young artist who encounters this medium in an unprecedented way.
